Learn about our area’s raptors and how they thrive in the “Sagebrush Sea” at the first installment of this summer’s Sagebrush Saturdays series at Rock Creek Ranch.

The whole family is invited to enjoy the free educational events and find out about the animals, plants and historic ranching on Idaho’s iconic rangelands. Sagebrush Saturdays will be held at the Rock Creek Ranch, a 10,400 acre working ranch and education facility owned and managed by the University of Idaho’s Rangeland Center, The Nature Conservancy and the Wood River Land Trust.

Rock Creek Ranch is located just east of Hailey and Bellevue, and all Sagebursh Saturday events will run from 9am to 11:30 am. Participants will receive a Nature Journal as part of the free series. There are five events in all.

-Birds, Birds, Birds takes place on Saturday, June 3rd.  It will offer hands-on experiences with raptors and will include bird identification from birds of prey experts. Please meet at the Rock Creek Ranch Barn.

Wildflowers and Pollinators will take place on Saturday, June 17th. Learn about wildflower identification and the important role pollinators play. Please meet at the Rock Creek Barn.

Beavers, Bugs and Streams takes place on Saturday, July 15th. Learn about beavers, insects, stream restoration, sage-grouse and more. Please meet at the Rock Creek Corrals.

-Earth, Fire and Wildlife takes place on Saturday, August 19th. Learn about the relationships between wildfire, soil, fish and wildlife. Please meet at Rock Creek’s South Camp.

Cowboy Days on the Range takes place on Saturday, September 16th. Enjoy cowboy coffee and learn about wild horses and cattle management. This last event in the series will also include a Community Appreciation Wrap-Up Party. Please meet at Rock Creek Ranch Corrals.

To the Rock Creek Barn:

From Hailey –  from the traffic light in the center of town go west on Bullion Street. This becomes Croy Creek Road – follow this approximately 4.5 miles to Rock Creek road on the left. Follow Rock Creek Road 6.5 miles to the Barn.

From the junction of Highway 75 and Highway 20 – go west on Highway 20 for just over 5 miles to Rock Creek Road on the right. Follow Rock Creek Road 4.5 miles to the Barn.

To the Rock Creek Corrals:

From Hailey –  from the traffic light in the center of town go west on Bullion Street. This becomes Croy Creek Road – follow this approximately 4.5 miles (from the center of town) to Rock Creek road on the left. Follow Rock Creek Road 9 miles to the Corrals near the intersection of West Glendale Road and Rock Creek Road.

From the junction of Highway 75 and Highway 20 – go west on Highway 20 for just over 5 miles to Rock Creek Road on the right. Follow Rock Creek Road 2 miles to the Corrals near the intersection of West Glendale Road and Rock Creek Road.
