Levy advisory board questions 'lasting conservation values'
The Blaine County commissioners on Nov. 12 approved floodplain conditional-use and stream alteration permits required for the Wood River Land Trust’s Heagle Park Big Wood River restoration project, but denied use of $107,500 from the Land, Wildlife and Water Program to fund the project.
The Heagle project has already secured permits from the Army Corps of Engineers, the Idaho Department of Water Resources and the city of Hailey.
According to the Land Trust’s webpage, the project is a “grand slam” and a “win-win-win” in “reducing flooding, restoring crucial habitats and returning the banks of the Big Wood to a natural state.”
