Dan Smith joined the Wood River Land Trust Board in March 2013. After graduating with an Engineering degree and an MBA from Idaho State University (ISU) Dan worked for the J.R. Simplot Company in various engineering and management roles. For six years, Dan served on the board of Valley Pride, a group consisting of business people and community supporters that work to improve the community of Pocatello, Idaho. His community service in Pocatello also consisted of 18 years as a member of the Portneuf Greenway Foundation, which was responsible for creating a non-motorized trail system in the Pocatello area. Dan served on ISU’s College of Science and Engineering Advisory Council for numerous years, and currently serves on the board of the Hailey Rotary Club.
“My wife Stephy and I purchased a part-time home in the Wood River Valley more than 30 years ago so we could enjoy the various recreational opportunities the community offers. Without the Land Trust’s efforts to protect open space and other precious resources, the opportunities to visit these extraordinary places may be lost.”
