The Trout Friendly program's main goal is to protect and enhance the health of the Big Wood River and its aquifer. This will ensure a healthy fishery and drinking water for the Wood River Valley. The Trout Friendly program accomplishes this through educational outreach to the community by providing seminars with landscape professionals, working with local landscape companies to implement Trout Friendly best management practices, and providing important information on our website to reduce the use of water and synthetic pesticides and incorporate native plants to increase wildlife habitat. Your membership will allow the program to thrive and protect our treasured Big Wood River! Ambassadors will receive all of the benefits listed below and will also get a Trout friendly t-shirt and trucker hat.

As a professional member of our Trout Friendly program, you are communicating to the community that you value the Trout Friendly Best Management Practices. When community members contact the Wood River Land Trust for support in implementing the Trout Friendly Best Management Practices in their own yards, your business is where we refer them to. We also recognize your dedication to a healthy Big Wood River by listing your business on our website and in our newsletters and other communications as appropriate. We also welcome you to add your own company sticker to our Trout Friendly Yard Signs when you are assisting a homeowner with implementing the Best Management Practices, increasing your visibility and commitment.

Lily & Fern colored logo

In 2015 Lily & Fern became a division of Whitehead’s Landscaping, making it possible to offer full service custom garden design and maintenance programs, with you in mind.  Our services include garden design, landscape design, beautiful installation, and maintenance programs.  Plus, we have an awesome organic vermicomposting system.  The end result of Vermicomposting is Vermicast, which is what is left after the worms completely break down the material! The reason why Vermicompost is considered “black gold” is because it is packed full of water-soluble nutrients. When added to the soil that your plants are already rooted in, it acts as a nutrient-dense, organic fertilizer, as well as a soil conditioner.
