In 2012 and 2013, The Community School partnered with Wood River Land Trust to collect sagebrush seed to help with fire restoration efforts across the west, as well as in the Wood River Valley.  Students worked with Land Trust staff and Idaho Fish and Game personnel to collect seed from Mountain Big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata subsp. vaseyana), which was then sent to Lucky Peak Nursery near Boise.  In exchange for the collected seeds, Lucky Peak provided two-year-old seedlings for local students and volunteers to use in an effort to replant areas burned from the 2013 Beaver Creek fire.
