The Land Trust is happy to be teaming up with the cities of Hailey, Sun Valley and Ketchum to put on this year’s free Trout Friendly Water-Wise Series. The goal of the series is to pass along water saving tips, tools and landscape design ideas.

The City of Hailey was also awarded an $18,000 grant for landscape water conservation from the Idaho Water Resources Board to implement a rebate program. Part of the rebate’s requirement includes applicants attending at least one of four workshops as part our of annual Trout Friendly Water-Wise Series.

The rebate program will remove of up to 25,000 square-feet of turf at a cost of about $81,000. At least 20 homeowners will receive rebates of up to $2,000 to replace lawns with attractive natives or drought-tolerant plants, xeriscaping or hardscapes (excludes concrete or asphalt).

Saturday, May 7, 9:00 am, Hailey City Hall: Attendees will learn how to save 20-40% water in their landscape from irrigation expert Travis McBride of Silver Creek Supply. Sunday, June 5, 3:00 – 5:30 pm, Sawtooth Botanical Garden: Kelley Weston and Elisha Mueller will lead the program, which will cover enhancing your landscape and bringing in local pollinators! Topics include pollinators, their needs, types of habitat and how to remove lawn to the design of a native-drought tolerant pollinator garden. Light refreshments will be served. Save your seat here. Wednesday, June 8, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, Hailey City Hall: Sharon Browder and Steven Paulsen will lead a program that focuses on designing an attractive landscape that embraces xeriscape ideas for all types of plants and garden styles.
